Sixth Grade
In Sixth Grade, students reviewed the vocabulary for numbers 0 - 59, months and the days of the week. They learned a song to the tune of the "Adam's Family" for the days of the week. In addition, they have become familiar with the sequence of numbers and they discovered that the abbreviation for some of the months in English are the beginnings of names of the months in Spanish. Moreover, they learned that the Spanish calendar and the days of the week begin with Monday (lunes) and ends with Sunday (domingo). Furthermore, they were introduced to Hispanic Heritage Month through various stories about important Hispanic Americans. Before the end of this month they will become familiar with the celebration "El Dia de los Muertos" (The Day of the Dead), which is celebrated on Nov. 1st in Mexico and within our Southwestern states.
